Chuck and the First Peoples' Kitchen

CHUCK'S JOURNEY

Vancouver

Tuesday, October 1

Thanks to its temperate climate and rich cultural diversity, Vancouver is one of North America’s top food truck cities. Chuck meets with two entrepreneurs working to reconnect urban Indigenous populations with their culinary traditions.

Sarah Meconse Mierau knows what life is like for Indigenous youth uprooted from their communities and thrown into the big city. Her food truck project is about giving urban Indigenous populations access to fruit- and plant-based products with medicinal properties.

Paul Natrall has become a household name in Vancouver’s food scene. With the city’s first Indigenous food truck, he offers his personal take on street food classics. At the Granville Island Public Market, Chuck joins Paul, who’s preparing a feast for the elders of his nation, the Squamish.
