Chuck joins Ernest Webb for some wild goose hunting in Chisasibi—the last village accessible by road in the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James region.
But today, it’s too windy and the water is too rough for the hunters to get close to their prey. Ernie decides to take Chuck on a tour of where he grew up, the community’s former village of Fort George Island. Ernest shares a few memories with Chuck over an eider duck egg and fried baloney sandwich.
Chuck pays a visit to Simon Quachegan, who makes goose sculptures out of tamarack wood.
Back at Ernie’s, the men prepare a goose and dumpling stew, a Chisasibi specialty.
