Skillet Bannock

  • 4 cups of flour 
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons of salt 
  • 1 1/2 cups of water 
  • 1 cube of butter 


  1. Mix the flour, salt, baking powder and water and knead the dough.
  2. Cover and let sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Once the bannock has risen, grease a frying pan or skillet with butter and add the bannock.
  4. Cook over a low heat for 20 minutes.
  5. Flip and cook for another 20 minutes.
  6. If you rap gently on the bannock, it should sound hollow.
