Sagamité Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 diced onion
  • 4 chopped garlic cloves
  • 3 diced celery stocks
  • 3 diced carrots
  • Corn kernels removed from 2 corn cobs
  • 1 ½ dried mushrooms sachet
  • 2 cups of coarsely-chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup of wild rice
  • 2 cups of small potatoes sliced in half
  • Chopped kale
  • Sagamité Watso mix (possible substitutes: mix of dried black beans and red beans, dried corn, and dried sage)
  • 4 cups of water
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Sweat the onion and garlic in butter and oil.
  2. Add the celery, carrots and corn.
  3. Add the cabbage.
  4. Add the potatoes. 
  5. Add the wild rice and dried mushrooms.
  6. Add the Sagamité Watso mix .
  7. Add water.
  8. Add the kale.
  9. Cook for 2 hours.
